Nicolas Vandelli

In this weeks “Off The Pitch” we caught up with a player new to the Brisbane football scene who will make his “Trophy Superstore Premier League ” debut next weekend for North Star Football Club….

He has made an impression in the Silver Boot Competition with 6 goals in 3 matches….Today we took time for a coffee with Frenchman Nicolas Vandelli and asked him a little about himself….

QSN: Nicolas we understand you arrived in Australia a month ago, what brings your to Brisbane?

NV: I have a friend who plays in Brisbane with Logan Lightning FC and I was keen to play in Australia and travel with my partner….we have enjoyed life in Brisbane so far!

QSN: Your preferred playing position is striker, can you tell us about your football background in France?

NV: I am 25 years old and from Cannes. I have played Youth and Senior Reserves for AS Cannes FC, Senior 1st Team football for CA Bastia FC and Borga FC and I love scoring goals! My career highlights have been a Youth Championship, a Cup win and having our team promoted…

QSN: You have started your football in Brisbane with 6 goals, what are your personal goals for this season?

NV: I have not set any specific goals other to score as many goals as I can! I know North Star FC were toward the bottom of the table last season, I want to ensure that we avoid relegation and have a successful year. We have a good squad this season and have recruited well. We have a good blend of youth and experience. Our first match against Brisbane Force FC will be very important for us.

QSN: What do you think of the standard of football you have seen so far in Brisbane?

NV: So far the standard I have seen is very good, the matches have been very physical….very different to football in Europe.

QSN: Time for some favourites? Food, drink, music, player and football club?

NV: Favourite food – Burger or Pasta, Drink – Sprite or Lemonade, Music – Techno, Football Player – Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Football Club – Paris Saint-Germain Football Club….

QSN: Who is the funniest team mate at North Star FC?

NV: Actually it’s not a team mate, it would be my Manager Brian Hastings…he’s very funny and always playing jokes….we have a good playing group and we all get on well….

Well thank you Nicolas for meeting with Soccer News and Reviews. Was pleasure meeting you and your partner. We wish you well and every success in the upcoming League and Cup Competitions and hope you enjoy your time in Australia.

If you want to see Nicolas make his debut, North Star FC will host Brisbane Force FC at O’ Callaghan Park, Zillmere, 5pm Sunday 23rd February.
