Souths v Easts

An incredible four-goal haul from Tegan Riding has helped Eastern Suburbs notch their first win of the season, outclassing Souths United 11-0 on Sunday.

Michaela Hatzirodos and Teagan Thompson both also snaffled hat-tricks on a dominant day for Easts at Wakerley Park.

It was Riding who did the early damage though as the Westfield W-League player proved her class with two goals inside the opening six minutes.

Hatzirodos soon followed to make it 3-0 in the 15th minute, before Georgina Amos netted her only goal of the match 10 minutes later.

Hatzirodos added another and Thompson grabbed two before the break to seal a 7-0 half time lead for the visitors.

The break allowed Souths to become more competitive after the restart, but they were unable to keep Thompson, Hatzirodos and Riding all scoring within a 15-minute period midway through the second half.

The hosts did succeed in stemming the flow in the final half hour, conceding just once as Riding capped a superb individual performance and memorable first PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland victory for Easts.

Speaking after the match, Souths coach Byron Hellmuth was full of praise for the opposition.

“I’ll give my positive thoughts to the Eastern Suburbs side … they are a very disciplined side and a very skilled side,” Hellmuth said.
