Sunshine Coast Women secured their second win of the season by outclassing Souths United Women 9-0 at Wakerley Park on Sunday.
Samara Christmas scored four as the visitors dominated before and after the break.
While Fire found time to add five after the restart, Christmas was the chief destroyer early with a hattrick of poacher’s goals inside 25 minutes.
Danielle White got in on the fun shortly after the half hour mark by punishing a spilled cross from the left to make it 4-0 at half time.
Though they did manage to occasionally threaten on the break in the first the hosts couldn’t keep Fire out at the end with Christmas completing her quartet by again profiting from good positioning in the penalty area.
Brooke Matheson extended the margin from a corner in the 58th minute, though her effort was overshadowed by an audacious Sofie Persson backheel to make it 6-0 with 25 minutes to play.
White made it a brace five minutes later before Persson assumed the scoring mantle for the final two goals, curling the first and finishing clinically for her hattrick.
Speaking after the match, Souths coach Byron Hellmuth said the break would provide a chance for improvement as a team and individually.
“We’ve got a lot to work on. We’re really going to concentrate on our key tasks as a team,” Hellmuth said.
