Palm Beach SC Women extended their lead at the top with a comfortable 4-0 win over Peninsula Power Women at A.J. Kelly Park on Saturday night.
Sharks scored twice at either ends of the match to make it seven straight matches unbeaten.
Harriet Withers opened the scoring for the league-leaders in just the sixth minutes, before 20-year-old striker Lauren Brown made it 2-0 three minutes later.
Despite conceding an early advantage, Power managed to steady for the remainder of the half to stay in the game at 2-0 down.
The hosts have made a habit of launching second-half comebacks this season but Sharks snuffed out their chances by remaining on course for a fourth clean sheet of the campaign.
Sachiko Tatsuoka and midfielder Meaghan McElligott then ensured the visitors rounded out the evening on a high with two goals in quick succession to complete the 4-0 result.
Speaking after the match, Sharks coach Gary French said he expects a tough task to remain in pole position.
“I think it’s one of these leagues that’s going to go down to the last game of the season but obviously it’s nice to be sitting on top at this moment,” French said.
