Here’s some brief profiles of those that currently form the QSN team.

Shane Jeynes (@ShaneJeynes) – Co-founder/Business Development Manager, Sponsorship and Marketing

Shane has been involved in football for many years, both as a player and a follower of football. Over recent years his love of the local game has continue to grow and culminated in several football media projects which lead to the meeting of like-minded football supporters in the foundation of Queensland Soccer News.

His football experience has been enriched with employment at A-League franchise Brisbane Roar Football Club in Match Day Operations. Shane also boasts a wide array of football management experience after a stint in football logistics with Brisbane Roar with a particular focus on women’s and youth football supporting the Westfield W-League, National Youth League, National Premier Leagues Queensland and Queensland NTC Under 17 Boys and Girls football programs.

Shane has significant management experience in the private and public sector. This experience along with his football knowledge and passion is the perfect combination in his responsibilities in Business Development, Sponsorship and Marketing for Queensland Soccer News. Shane has been fortunate to meet some wonderful people, players, coaches and fans but most importantly he has made some great friends around the Queensland football community.

He loves every minute that he is involved in football and still argues that the 2014 FFA Cup clash between Sunshine Coast Fire and Caloundra FC was the best game at Queensland grassroots level in recent years despite Rafe and Merson’s case for the 2015 FFA Cup match between Broadbeach United FC and Palm Beach Sharks.

Stuart Flint (@stuartflint) – Analysis and Opinion

Stuart realised at an early age that he was better at watching and writing about football than he was at playing it. This led to a made-up newspaper he created when he was eight years old (Weekly Sport Gazette), with an audience of one. It turned a little more serious, years later, with the establishment of YourBPL.com that attracted thousands of regular visitors. This was the forerunner of media coverage of the Brisbane Premier League and has now turned into Football Brisbane’s official media coverage, The Washing Line.

With a history of writing about the local game, Stuart has taken on a bigger project of trying to merge his vocational with his second love (behind that for his family), the combination of data capture and analysis and its application to provide insight to players and coaches. This is in its infancy with the formation of OnTheBall Analytics.

Stuart’s goals in football are to create a group of football data scientists in Brisbane, increase his coaching and tactical knowledge, as well as provide a foundation to allow his children to be a far better player than he was.

Merson Kean (@mersonk1) – Brisbane Correspondent

Merson was always destined to be an avid football follower, after all he was named after English Premier League legend, Paul Merson. He joins QSN from the UK, developing a keen interest in Football Brisbane matches from afar for a number of seasons after first coming across games being covered on FBTV via the internet.

He will keep you across all the happenings from the Brisbane zone.

Rafe Griffin (@rafegriffin

Rafe has been involved in the game for 25 years including roles as varied as canteen operator, referee and administrator.

After falling out of love with the game, he’s rejoined the fold in recent years and has now found a new way to enjoy it, through the media’s eye. As well as being the editor, content developer and writer for QSN, he has also added several strings to his bow along the way as the match commentator for the NPL Queensland and Football Brisbane which has also provided him with the opportunity to call A-League pre-season and National Youth League matches.

His biggest career achievement to date was calling the 2015 FFA Cup Round of 16 match between Lions FC and Perth Glory for Fox Sports while another highlight was covering Liverpool’s visit to Brisbane in July 2015, the EPL club he supports.

Through his involvement in the game in regional areas, he has a passion to ensure that all levels of the code across the whole state receive the appropriate media coverage and recognition.
