Congratulations to Matt Mundy who is the Total Compression NPL Player of the Month for July 2016.
His Olympic side has been the form team of the competition in recent times, including a win during July over current league leaders Brisbane Strikers. The club has been going through a rejuvenation after sitting second-last for much of the first half of the season but Terry Kirkham taking over the coaching reins has seen a change of fortunes for the Yeronga-based club.
The judging panel was impressed with Mundy’s performances after a shift from a central defender role into the midfield.
Mundy’s award comes after teammate and captain Danny Byrne collected the same award for June, the first time that players from the same club have won the award in consecutive months.
Mundy is now in his fourth year at Olympic after coming across from the Brisbane Premier League’s Rochedale Rovers. That came after a stint at the Brisbane Roar player where he made 29 appearance for the A-League club, including being a part of the 2010/11 squad that collected the Roar’s inaugural Premier’s Plate and famous Grand Final win.
From everyone at QSN and Total Compression, congratulations Matt on your award.
