FNQ Heat’s hoodoo on the Gold Coast continued as they fell 4-0 to Gold Coast City, despite City being reduced to ten men for three-quarters of the match. Rhys Saunders had two goals inside the first five minutes with Roman Hofmann from the penalty spot and Jaiden Walker the other scorers.
SWQ Thunder took a 2-0 lead into the break via Keagan Sheridan and Majok Piok and it looked like an upset was likely against Redlands. Michael Lee brought it back to 2-1 early in the second half before Piok gave the Thunder a 3-1 lead but three unanswered goals from Graham Fyfe and a double to Michael McGowan saw Redlands claim a 4-3 win and reduced the deficit in the Premiership race with the Heat.
Goals aplenty at Perry Park between last year’s Grand Finalists. Rhys Meredith set the tone early for the Brisbane Strikers with a penalty conversion. Taiga Ishikura and Jonathan Marraiya in quick succession put Moreton Bay ahead and the goals kept coming as Fraser Hills pulled the Strikers back to 2-2. Hills then scored on the stroke of halftime for a Strikers 3-2 lead. More drama as Meredith missed a penalty. Alex Janovsky ensured it would be a frantic final twenty minutes after he put the Jets on level footing again and that’s where it ended with both sides sharing the spoils in a 3-3 draw.
Northern Fury have picked up a point for the second week in a row in a 3-3 draw with Western Pride.
Three second half goals saw Peninsula defeat Redlands 3-0.
BRISBANE PREMIER LEAGUE
A scoreless first half between Peninsula and Lions but goals in the final twenty minutes to Ajdin Fetahagic and Tynan Diaz ensured Lions large lead on top of the table would remain in a 2-0 win.
Albany Creek and Holland Park exchanged goals in the first half but it was Holland Park who went into the sheds ahead 2-1. It was Albany Creek who came out the better in the second half though as they came away 4-3 victors against the Hawks.
Logan Lightning and Rochedale played out a scoreless M1 derby.
Easts need wins to keep in the finals race and they did exactly that in a 4-1 victory over North Pine. Toru Amano with a double, Ryan Stenhouse and Daniel Cunha were Easts scorers while Shuto Kuboyama struck for North Pine.
