Lions FC will be hosting “Starlight Round” over the coming weekend, a new charity initiative that the club has started with the Starlight Children’s Foundation being the first charity to benefit.
The “Starlight Round” will cover all games being played at Lions Stadium from this Friday right through to the Premier League match against Rochedale on Sunday afternoon.
The club will host a number of activities including a ‘Star-BQ’ sausage sizzle while a raffle will be conducted with prizes donated by the club sponsors including BLK, Linebreak Compression, Telstra Shop Mt Ommaney, Snap Fitness Forest Lake, 9Round Forest Lake and Red Lion Agencies.
All monies raised will go towards funding Starlight’s innovative hospital programs to help continue to brighten the lives of sick kids and their families.
Lions FC’s major sponsor Motorama have been a long-term supporter of Starlight and currently have a raffle running for a $35,000 motor vehicle from any one of their brands. Tickets will be available through the licenced club or available around the grounds on the weekend.
Lions Chairman Henk Mollee said, “We have been looking for a while to partner with a worthwhile charity to run such an event. Having nearly 700 children registered to the club we felt the fit with the broadest children’s charity in Australia was perfect and the timing was right to run this.”
Those that attend the Premier League match on Sunday afternoon will have to pay a rare admission fee but it will all go to a good cause with a gold coin donation for entry also going into the fundraising pool.
Starlight’s State Partnerships Manager was grateful of the support from the club for this valuable initiative.
“We are thankful to Lions FC and Motorama for their support in helping Starlight bring more fun, joy and laughter into the lives of seriously ill children and their families. We need the support of the community now more than ever as demand for our hospital programs continues to increase.”
Over 120 Captain Starlights regularly make the journey from Planet Starlight to children’s hospitals across Australia including the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane with their Starlight Express Rooms providing a medical-free respite for sick kids and their families.
