Football Queensland (FQ) has confirmed our story from last week regarding the withdrawal of Moreton Bay United from the NPL Senior Women’s competition.
A FQ press release states, “Having earlier in pre-season been in a position to meet expectations, the club has advised FQ that subsequent player departures have irrevocably undermined the squad and its ability to uphold the competition’s competitiveness.”
The competition will continue as scheduled with the season kicking off this weekend with the remaining eleven clubs. Moreton Bay will be replaced by a bye in the fixture meaning that Souths will have this weekend off.
FQ also confirmed Redlands withdrawal from the under 13 Girls. The remainder of Redlands licence remains intact with the club committing to under 15 Girls and Senior Women’s teams.
Further discussions will occur between FQ and Redlands and Moreton Bay in regards to potential sanctions.
