Olympic and Logan end Boot with goalfest

Olympic have ended their BLK Silver Boot campaign on a positive in a high-scoring affair against Logan Lightning coming away 5-3 winners.

The tone was set early when Sam Cronin scored inside the first minute for Olympic only to have Alex Warrilow put his side back on level terms only two minutes later.

Cronin struck again on the ten minute mark before Matt Heath struck on the break to slide the ball under Logan keeper Nick Moore.

That lead to a ceasefire in terms of goals being scored after the four scored in the first half hour but the craziness fired up again upon the resumption of the second half.

Heath brought up his double replicating Cronin’s effort of scoring in the first minute of the half.

Youeil Shol then got in on the action giving Olympic a four-goal lead just three minutes into the second stanza.

Making it three goals in five minutes, Warrilow had his brace when he scored almost from the restart after the Olympic goal.

Sam Peacock provided hope for his side when he brought the deficit back to two with half an hour to go. But unlike the fast and furious previous hour, that would end the scoring.

Olympic finish second in Group A after defeating Logan and Mitchelton while Logan left the tournament winless and shipping an average of four goals per match.

With their win earlier in the evening, Brisbane Strikers topped the pool and progress to Thursday week’s semi-finals.
