Eastern Suburbs cruised to a three goal win over Pine Hills on Wednesday night to progress to the Brisbane Womens Premier League Preliminary Final. That sets up an encounter in the Preliminary Final against Annerley for the third time in recent weeks.
The Tigers wasted no time in opening their account as the ball was spread on to the right hand flank where Chloe Balarezo was lurking and an excellent run was finished off with a fantastic finish into the bottom left corner to give the Tigers a first minute lead.
The game filtered out into a midfield battle where chances were rare but in the twentieth minute, the ball was looped over the top by the Tigers and Rani Lustosa was in the clear where she stayed composed and tucked it past the advancing keeper Kathleen Page into the back of the net for a two goal cushion.
The encounter petered out into a scrap with both sides turning over possession on numerous occasions and the Tigers went into the halftime break with a two goal lead.
The early excursions of the second half were starved of chances as Easts were happy to settle with their two goal buffer but Pine Hills just couldn’t get the ball into the final third and when they did, the Easts defence was equal to the task.
Easts had an attack forward as the match headed into the final fifteen minutes and they added a third when a ball was played into Lauren Askin who scuffed her shot but it trickled under Page and rolled into the net confirming the 3-0 victory.
The loss ends Pine Hills season.
