Early doors it was looking like SWQ Thunder might pick up their first ever win in the competition with goals to Nykodah Smith and Anthony Grant. Kenya Takahashi and Jacob Fulluck got the Sunshine Coast Fire back on an even keel at the halftime break with Takahashi striking again in the second half, providing what would ultimately be the winner in a Fire 3-2 win.
A goal in each half, one to Shelford Dais, the other to Sam Sibatuara saw the Brisbane Roar effectively knock the Northern Fury out of the finals race in a 2-0 victory.
Redlands charge towards a finals berth continued with a first half Graham Fyfe penalty the difference between the sides in a 1-0 win against Brisbane City. Redlands move into third on the table
Olympic scored first in their trek to Cairns against the FNQ Heat via Sam Cronin but two goals just before halftime to Crios O’Hare and Josh Pin saw the hosts take a 2-1 lead into oranges and that’s the way it stayed with the Heat keeping finals hopes alive.
Harrison Sawyer opened the scoring for Western Pride before Charles Mendy equalised for Moreton Bay in the five minutes before halftime. Royce Brownlie and Alex Henderson added two second-half goals for the Jets in a 3-1 conquest of the Ipswich-based side to retain top of the table status.
