NPL QUEENSLAND

SWQ Thunder and Northern Fury went to break on level terms, Corey Waples effort for the Fury was cancelled out by Keegan Sheridan on the stroke of half time. Two goals in the final ten minutes were enough for the Fury to win for a second week in a row with Joe Thornton converting from the spot and Jarrod Lee scoring for the visitors to come away from Toowoomba with a 3-1 win.

Palm Beach had a 2-0 lead at halftime and then sealed the win in the last minutes with a further goal before Sunshine Coast scored a consolation in injury time as the home side claimed a 3-1 victory on the Gold Coast.

Brisbane City’s run of recent good performances came to an end at Goodwin Park as Olympick kept a rare clean sheet. Recent recruit Alistair Quinn scored a double with singles to Sam Cronin, Danny Byrne and Golden Boot leader Tim Smits. Olympic in a rout with a 5-0 win.

At Wolter Park it was the top of the table clash between Moreton Bay and Brisbane Strikers. A deflected effort from Royce Brownlie gave the Jets a 1-0 halftime lead. Jackson Hall doubled the advantage straight after the restart and when Jheison Macuace pulled one back for the Strikers in the 49th minute, it looked like the goal scoring floodgates were going to open. An attacking minded substitution by Strikers coach Kevin A’hearne-Evans, replacing defender Chris Maher with forward Apai Ukuno paid dividends 15 minutes from time as the Strikers drew level at 2-2. The score would remain that way until the fulltime whistle.
