FULLTIME – Pine Rivers took the opportunities they were presented with and have claimed a 3-0 win against North Pine. Rivers will meet the winner of the June 3 match between Lions and Peninsula.

89′ – North Pine have a shot blocked on the goal line.

84′ – Slight glimmer of hope for North Pine, awarded a free kick at the edge of the box. Great free kick bulleted in by Lincoln and Walsh forced to grab at it with a second attempt after an initial fumble.

78′ GOAL – The North Pine players stop thinking the ball crossed the goal line, it hadn’t and Krishneel Roy poaches at the post to steer the ball into the back of the net. Pine Rivers 3 v North Pine 0. Looks like Pine Rivers are moving through to the next round.

75′ – North Pine earn a free kick at the edge of the box. Lincoln curls his free kick around the wall, looks like it’s going in the back of the net before the Rivers defender clears off the post.

74′ – Pine Rivers sub – Warburton replaces Waddell. Both Rivers goal scorers have been replaced.

70′ – Heaney delivers a cross in for Heath (North Pine) but despite winning the aerial battle, send it wide of the left upright.

66′ – Keslake (North Pine) rises high above the pack to get a shot on goal but the Pine Rivers defence scramble to clear. At the other end, Cunneen tees up one of his teammates but he is called offside.

63′ – North Pine sub – Nakagawa replaces Esdale. Also, Krishneel Roy is on for Pine Rivers in place of the opening goal scorer, Tommy Gibbons

55′ – YC – Jacob Mitchell goes into the notebook for a late challenge. Also a North Pine sub, the goal scorer in the previous Cup round, Jimmy Fairgrieve replaces Batticciotto

51′GOAL – Pine Rivers exploit defensive lapses in the North Pine attack and Nick Waddell finished expertly from near the penalty spot. Pine Rivers 2 v North Pine 0

47′ – North Pine break down a promising Rivers attack deep inside the box, clearing for a corner

46′ – Second half underway

HALFTIME – Pine Rivers 1 v North Pine 0. A game of very few chances with both sides having difficulties in the final third, the difference being that Pine Rivers took advantage of their opportunity.

39′ – Low free kick driven in by Heath, spotted at the last moment amongst a congested box by Harris getting down low to make the save.

38′ – Free kick to North Pine near the edge of the box.

35′ – Good ball by Lincoln through for Keslake who has looped around from left back, his cross blocked by Rivers and out for a corner.

33′ – Lincoln shoots wide of the left upright for North Pine. Rivers are limiting them to shots outside the box mainly so far.

27′ – Long range free kick from North Pine, once again straight to Walsh with little effort to make.

21′ – Shot from North Pine from outside the box straight to Walsh for an easy save.

20′ – GOAL Pretty much against the play, cross delivered in for Tommy Gibbons at the far post who turns it at the post past Bowtell-Harris. Pine Rivers 1 v North Pine 0

19′ – Long range speculator from Rivers’ Waddell high over the crossbar to threaten the wildlife in the trees behind the goal.

13′ – Fantastic strike from Heaney from 30 yards forces Walsh into a upstretched save over the bar and a North Pine corner.

12′ – Ball from Smith through the channel for Batticciotto pushed through a little too hard allowing Rivers keeper Walsh to collect inside his area.

10′ – North Pine have had the better of the opening in terms of possession and territory but unable to make it count in the final third.

5′ – Poor backpass by Cassamatis (Rivers) into the path of Batticciotto (North Pine) gives him a way to goal but his shot finds side netting.

1′ – Opening corner of the night comes North Pine’s way

KICKOFF @ 7:31pm – Pine Rivers get us underway

An all-Brisbane Capital League One match and this one has added spice with the inclusion of a local derby as an ingredient, evidenced when these sides last met on Anzac Day in a 2-2 draw with Pine Rivers having two players sent off.

Both sides struggled at times in their last Cup encounters, North Pine needing extra time to defeat fellow Capital One club Bayside while Pine Rivers scored two goals in the last fifteen minutes to progress to this round at the expense of Capital Two league leaders, Centenary.

These sides are one and two on the ladder in the league, North Pine four points clear on top over Pine Rivers with a game in hand but bring contrasting weekend league form into this match. Pine Rivers easily accounted for cellar dwellers Brisbane Force 6-1 where North Pine conceded two goals in the final five minutes, going down against Annerley 2-1. The Gorillas perhaps with one eye on this encounter.

The winning side will gain passage to Brisbane’s round seven, setting up an encounter against the June 3 winner of the game between Lions and Peninsula Power.
