Regional Round-Up, Weekend 8-10 May

Here’s your wrap-up from the regional Premier Leagu action that took place over last weekend.


Draws were the order of the round as Merrimac and Coomera played out a scoreless match with Murwillumbah and Palm Beach taking a point each with a 2-2 result.

It was a high-scoring match between Surfers Paradise and Magic United and ultimately neither side could be split in a 4-4 draw. Surfers goals coming from a brace to Luke Sleight, a goal to Wase Russell and an own goal while Morgan Saunders scored all four for Magic.

Mudgeeraba became the first side to take points of Broadbeach in their 3-3 draw on Saturday afternoon to claim some revenge for their recent FFA Cup loss against the Dolphins. Gustavo Orcajo, Lee Vernon and Adam Powell on the scoresheet for Broadbeach.


Caboolture made it two on the trot with a 6-1 defeat of Gympie Diggers. 

Kawana remain undefeated but they were pushed all the way by Caloundra, coming away with a 4-3 win.

Buderim in a similar situation to Kawana, still undefeated despite Coolum taking them to task, claiming the points away from home 3-2.

Noosa also in good form, it’s making for an interesting competition this year, claiming the three points against Maroochydore 6-2. Dave McRae, Matt Thompson and Chris Jancevski all with doubles for the winners, Timi Ajibola and Jon Tyson scoring got Maroochydore.

Woombye had a night out against Nambour-Yandina, maintaining a perfect record and ladder lead with a 11-1 victory. Prolific goalscorer Luke Alderson scored four, Corey Towle with two and singles to Leon Tyrrell, Nick Close, Joel Couacaud, Josh Walton and Andrew Harrison making up Woombye’s tally.

Doon Villa came up with their third win in a row accounting for fellow Maryborough side Sunbury 3-1. Sam Kirk, Jesse Nowitzke and Joel Nielsen bagging goals for the Magpies while Anthony Mollee scored for Sunbury.

Fraser Flames picked up their second win in the club’s history in their 3-0 defeat of KSS Jets

Brothers Aston Villa were convincing 4-0 winners over Alloway. Gareth Jones, Blake O’Brien, Jed McCormack and Michael Stayte contributing the goals.

United Park Eagles are top of the league, inflicting further misery on second last Tinana with a 10-0 win. James Walker, Ricky Taylor, Brendan Davis with braces, Michael Manenti, Joel Porch, Jake Davis and Brenden Banks with singles.

Across The Waves also notching up a big score with a 7-0 victory against Diggers. Matt Martin scoring two and goals to Alex Butler, Callum Stitt, Leo Partridge, Joe Williams and Matt Eilers made up Waves seven.

United Warriors recorded a 4-1 win against Bingera. Brad Mitchell starring with a hat-trick and Sam Hill making up Warriors effort.


Capricorn Coast had a rewarding trip to Emerald taking three points back to Yeppoon with a 11-0 triumph. Matteson McGuire with five goals, keeper come striker Tim English scored two, Jack Hamilton, Jared Moran, Ben Cummins and Dylan Kussrow contributing the other goals.

Southside and Clinton fought out a 1-1 draw. Zaki Benamar scoring for Clinton.

Another 1-1 result between Nerimbera and Berserker, James McIntyre claiming a goal for Nerimbera.

A hattrick to Michael Cay and one to Michael Freeman ensureda 4-0 win for Frenchville over Bluebirds.
