REGIONAL WRAP – WEEKEND 20 – 22 MARCH – PART TWO

Part Two of our Regional Wrap for the weekend just passed takes a look at the opening rounds from the North Queensland and Toowoomba Premier Leagues.

NORTH QUEENSLAND PREMIER LEAGUE

Brothers were able to get their title defence off to the best of starts defeating the Northern Fury 3-1. Alex King scored a brace and was joined on the Brothers spreadsheet by Scott Cameron with Jordan Zabel scoring for the Fury.

A James McEvoy-Bowe double ensured MA Olympic collected three points in a 2-1 win over Saints Eagles Souths.

Saturday night saw Warriors collect a comprehensive 4-0 win over Ingham. Steven Ramsbotham, Ben Horrocks, Antony Venitis and Reece Edmonds all single goalscorers for Warriors.

Wulguru made their return to the Premier League after being forced to pull out mid-way through last year but it wasn’t a happy return as Burdekin collected a 3-0 win. Mitchell Taylor scored two and Ryan Mottin in Burdekin’s victory.

Rebels lead the table after round one in a 5-1 rout of Ross River, featuring a four-goal haul from Matt Richards while former Fury NPL player Nick Figg scored the other. Kristian Vecchio the lone goalscorer for the Crocodiles.
